Itineraries

In the Degree in Arabic and Islamic Studies there are seven possible options to specialize. To obtain one of the specialties you must pass 5 courses related to such specialty and two more courses of the same subject from the first or the second year.

Specialty in Catalan Philology

In addition to taking 12 credits from two of the courses Workshop on Speaking and Writing in Catalan, Introduction to Medieval Catalan Literature, Practice of the Catalan Norm and Current Catalan Literature, you must pass 5 of the following courses:

  1. Language Contrasts from Catalan.
  2. Medieval Catalan Literature and European Literatures.
  3. Comparative and Contemporary Catalan Literature.
  4. Catalan: Textual Analysis and Linguistic Competence.
  5. Didactics of Language and Literature (in Catalan).
  6. Internship.

Specialty in French Studies.

In addition to taking 12 credits from two of the courses French I, French II, Main Movements of French Literature and Culture I and Main Movements of French Literature and Culture II, you must pass 5 of the following courses:

  1. French: Oral Communication II.
  2. French Language: Written Communication II.
  3. France and the French-speaking countries in the French Media.
  4. French Literature and Cinema.
  5. Youth Literature, Crime Novel and Comics in French.
  6. Internship.

Specialty in Hispanic Studies.

In addition to taking 12 credits out of Spanish: Norm and Use I, Introduction to Spanish Literature, Spanish: Norm and Use II and Introduction to Latin American Literature, you must pass 5 of the following courses:

  1. Literature and Culture applied to Teaching Spanish as a Foreign Language / Second Language.
  2. Spanish as a Foreign Language / Second Language.
  3. Text Editing and Proofreading.
  4. Current Latin American Literature.
  5. American Spanish.
  6. Internship.

Specialty in English Studies.

In addition to taking 12 credits out of Effective Communication in English I, Effective Communication in English II, Great Figures of the English Literature I and Great Figures of the English Literature II, you must pass 5 of the following courses:

  1. English III.
  2. Literature and Cinema in English-Speaking Countries.
  3. Culture and Institutions in English-Speaking Countries.
  4. English IV.
  5. Innovation and Rupture in the History of the English Language Literature.
  6. Internship.

Specialty in Classical Studies.

In addition to taking 12 credits out of Latin and European Languages, Greek: origins and evolution, Latin Literature: Lyric Poetry and Didactics, Greek Literature: Poetry, Latin and Romance Languages, Literary Genre and Greek Dialect, Latin Literature: Epic and Love Poetry, Greek Literature: Prose, you must pass 5 of the following subjects:

  1. Latin Tragedy.
  2. Latin Comedy.
  3. Greek Tragedy.
  4. Medieval and Modern Latin Drama.
  5. Greek Comedy.
  6. Internship.

Specialty in General Linguistics.

You must pass 5 of the following courses:

  1. Clinical Linguistics: Language and Speech Disorders.
  2. Introduction to Sign Languages.
  3. Pragmalinguistics: Verbal and Non-verbal Aspects of Communication.
  4. Linguistics applied to Language Learning.
  5. Sociolinguistics: Language and Society.
  6. Internship.

Specialty in Theory of Literature and Comparative Literature.

You must pass 5 of the following courses:

  1. Literary Aesthetics.
  2. Literary Critics and Hermeneutics.
  3. Comparative Literature and Cyberculture.
  4. Literature and Cinema.
  5. Literary Text Analysis: Theory and Practice.
  6. Internship.
